![]() In her free time Janette enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and their Bernese Mountain Dog. Janette is a life-long resident of the Antioch/Oakley area and graduated with a degree in Animal Biology and a teaching credential from The University of California, Davis. Prior to joining the K2GC team she worked as the manager for an internet Café, a personal assistant, and high school science teacher. She is the face you see when you come in the front door. Janette is the Administrative Assistant at K2GC. Janette Kratina – Administrative Assistant Jim takes a great deal of pride in providing exceptional customer service and a high quality of work as well ![]() Prior to joining K2GC Jim was a Superintendent for Meritage Homes, an Installation Manager for Builders Show Case Interiors & also founded his own General Contractor company. Jim has been a licensed (B Class) General Contractor since 1992 and also has a C-15 Class Flooring license since 1995. Jim McCarthy is our Superintendent with over 25 years of General Construction experience. Kenny’s belief that it is not only our job and work ethic that defines us, but also our willingness to be involved and help support our community. He is frequently donating time and sponsoring youth athletics and other youth activities. To this day Kenny handles the business with similar family values that were taught to him growing up in the business. After a brief period of working in HVAC industry, Kenny came back to his true calling, rebuilding and remodeling homes. In 2003 Kenny left the family business due to philosophical differences. In 2000 Kenny earned his California State Contractor’s license. After a period of time Kenny had begun handling the day to day operations of the family construction company. After time the natural progression led him into the office as a Project Manager, then next an estimator. With the wide array of trades required to rebuild a home from fire or water damage, Kenny became skilled in many different facets of construction. ![]() During which time he worked his way up the ranks starting as a laborer, progressing into a carpenter. All through school and right after graduating from Antioch High School, Kenny worked for his family owned and operated construction company in Antioch called Turnage Construction. By the time he was thirteen, it was evident that the building, remodeling and repairing of homes was to become his calling. Kenny was born into the construction industry. Kenny is the founder and President of K2GC. Turnage II General Contractor – founder and President The Public Lands Service Coalition represents 36 Conservation Corps whose 17,000 members complete crucial maintenance on America's public/tribal lands and waters. “This evaluation offers further proof that Conservation Corps provide important benefits to public lands and the public good, and we encourage our land management agencies to increase service opportunities for America’s Conservation Corps members,” said Mary Ellen Ardouny, Vice President of External Affairs for The Corps Network, formerly known as the National Association of Service and Conservation Corps. In addition, Corps participants’ interest in natural resource management careers increased during their service, while non-participants’ interest in such jobs actually declined during the same time period. Another 91% of Corps participants plan to purchase outdoor recreation gear within the next year, and to spend substantially more than their nonparticipant peers. Ninety-five percent of Corps alumni indicate they plan to go backpacking within the next year, versus just 23% of the comparison group. Intensified engagement with the land was evinced by stronger interest in outdoor recreation. These include enhanced leadership and teamwork skills as well as a greater willingness to accept responsibility for personal actions. Using data collected during the 2011 program season, researchers found that after a season of service, Corps members displayed numerous developmental advantages. The study, conducted by researchers at Texas A&M University, assessed participants from 10 member Corps of the Public Lands Service Coalition against a random comparison group. WASHINGTON, D.C.–-Young people who participate in Conservation Corps exhibit improved leadership skills, community engagement and environmental stewardship according to a recent nationwide evaluation.
